The Waldorf Method

Designed by an Austrian philosopher, Rudolf Steiner in 1919, Waldorf Education is based on a profound understanding of human development that addresses the needs of the growing child. Nearly 100 years ago, Rudolf Steiner worked with factory owner Emil Molt to create the first Waldorf School in Stuttgart, Germany with the goal of educating children to be clear-thinking, compassionate, and conscientious adults that could look at the world in complex ways rather than descend into world war. Steiner achieved this through creating a pedagogy that centered around reverence for, and deep observation of, how we as human beings naturally develop.

Why Waldorf Works

WALDORF curriculum is carefully designed to meet the developing individual. The curriculum, noted for its breadth and depth, follows the developmental stages of the childhood and mirrors the inner transformation of the child from year to year.

Waldorf Education prepares the children to face the challenges of the world with confidence and self-discipline, the ability to think independently, mastery of analytical and critical faculties, fluency with creative and artistic expression and an appreciation for the beauty and wonder of the world.

It allows children to develop their full potential, building their leadership skills and confidence, establishing them as valued and respected members of the community.

Academic Integration

At AKSHAR, we plan every learning activity attending to its impact on mind, body and spirit. We understand each one affects the others and all engage in the learning process.

How to Think, Not What to Think

1.  We recognize a lifelong love of learning is more valuable than memorizing a book of facts; it contributes to success in any field of endeavour.
2. From the earliest days in a classroom, creativity is fostered. It helps to build the developmental foundation on which dynamic, innovative and analytic thinking are built.
3.  Our teachers help students develop skills – observation, reflection and judgement – that empower students to build their understanding. This forms the basis of thoughtfulness and critical thinking, giving our students the confidence to make sense of what they experience in the real world.

Akshar Children

At AKSHAR, it is a deep conviction that something that is forced on the children from outside and obeyed without being integrated will often lose its value.

1.  At AKSHAR, Children are never condemned for wrong behavior instead they are distinguished from the wrong behavior by reinforcing the positive aspect of personality.

2. At AKSHAR, Children are always loved, trusted and respected. If loved and cared for, they learn to respect difficulties of others and readily render their support to others.

3. At AKSHAR, children are helped to develop a personal connection to the world, community, nature and self.

4. At AKSHAR, children are encouraged to freely develop as human beings who are able to impart purpose and direction to their lives.

5. At AKSHAR, children are provided with skills for life including self-discipline, independence, and mastery of analytical and critical thinking which help them prepare for a changing world.
